INFORMATION PAPER

DAPE-HR-PR
22 June 2000

SUBJECT: Wear of the 10th Award

1. Purpose: To provide information on how to wear the 10th award of a decoration.

2. Facts.

a. On 22 May 2000, the Secretary of the Army approved Change 1 to AR 670-1, which provides the method for soldiers to display the 10th award of a decoration. The change became effective 22 June 2000.

b. To display the 10th award, soldiers will wear a second ribbon, placing it after the first ribbon; the second ribbon counts as one award. Soldiers may wear no more than four oak leaf clusters on each ribbon. If the receipt of future awards reduces the number of oak leaf clusters sufficiently (that is, a silver oak leaf for five awards), soldiers will remove the second ribbon and place the appropriate number of devices on a single ribbon.

c. The complete text of the change is in paragraph 28-12a, AR 670-1, on the publications web site, in PDF format; Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to access the regulation. Use the following address to access the regulation. http://www.usapa.army.mil/gils/epubs7.html;mark=521,4,12#WN_mark
